Patty Pasion

Patty covers the House of Representatives. For the 2016 elections, she has been following the campaign of presidential candidate Miriam Defensor Santiago and running mate Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Before joining Rappler as a reporter, she was segment producer and writer for GMA News and Public Affairs. She was part of the network’s investigative arm, the Special Assignments Team, where she reported on development issues of vulnerable sectors, the pork barrel scandal, and other anomalies in government.

Her work as a journalist has allowed her to talk to lawmakers as well as people from all walks of life, among them farmers in Iloilo who are still relying on rainwater for irrigation, and mothers living in far-flung areas who struggle with birthing. This has given her insight into how the interplay of politics and policies affect the lives of ordinary Filipinos.

Patty graduated cum laude with the degree of BA Broadcast Communication from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

In between thinking of her next story pitch and getting ready for the daily grind, she enjoys being a young homemaker, growing her herb garden and baking cupcakes and cookies.
