Zak's relationship with journalism began at an early age and continues to this day. He started as a young reporter for the award-winning TV show 5 and Up, which taught him that a journalist's first instinct is curiosity. At Rappler, Zak is the head of Citizen Journalism at MovePH.

He has a masters degree in public policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School at the National University of Singapore and a BA in political science from UP Diliman.

Prior to working at Rappler, Zak was a division chief at the Presidential Management Staff where he distilled policy papers for the President's consumption. He was also an associate producer for the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC).

Offline, Zak is an active volunteer of CISV, a international volunteer youth organization that promotes peace education in more than 60 countries. He loves to travel but prefers the Philippines any day.
