MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Last November 16, Sammy Snooze finally woke up just in time to propose to his girlfriend.
How did the country's sleepiest man finally get up? With a little help from the new NESCAFÉ WakeUp app.
For weeks, 10-second videos were submitted from all over the country. People were trying to wake up Sammy Snooze, the sleepiest man in the Philippines, so that he wouldn't miss out on the important events in his life.
And finally, he woke up. The grand awakening happened in Robinsons Ermita and one lucky winner bagged the prize of P100,000 for successfully waking up Sammy Snooze.
Here’s the winning video.
Staying true to the objective of the app, which is to have your friends and loved ones wake you up and have better mornings ahead, the chosen video stood out among thousands.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Filipinos to entertain their friends. And we just saw a clear example of that. The event went great and people going into the video booths made it more exciting,” said NESCAFÉ’s Business Executive Manager, Donald Howat.
Gino Abano, VP for Consumer Marketing Manager at Nestle Philippines, said, “This event is about introducing one of the initiatives of NESCAFÉ globally. We launched the WakeUp app to represent the brand in a new way and reinforce the relevance of coffee in the morning. You ask anybody why they drink coffee and it’s to wake themselves up and we think it was a great way to leverage on the digital culture of the youth today and bring the brand close to them.”
When asked about what’s next for Sammy Snooze, Gino simply said, “Wait to find out.”
