This is a press release from the Kabayan Noli de Castro Foundation, Inc.
Poverty should not be a hindrance to success. Education is key to success.
The Kabayan Noli de Castro Foundation, Inc., announced Wednesday, October 8 that nominations for the search for the Ten Outstanding Public School Students (TOPS) are now accepted.
Now on its 9th year, the search aims to recognize public high school students who have displayed exemplary performance in academics and leadership. It started in 2006 when de Castro was the sitting-vice president of the country.
For this year, Kabayan Noli de Castro Foundation, Inc. is partnering with the Department of Education, Rotary Club of Midtown Quezon City, and SM Foundation which will provide cash awards, full tuition and miscellaneous fees scholarship and a monthly allowance to the winners. Nomination for the awards is open to all presently enrolled graduating high school students from public secondary schools.
Of this feat, Atty. Jesse Andres from the Kabayan Noli de Castro Foundation, Inc. expresses his delight to now be working with past scholars to organize the search.
“Together with the previous scholars who were assisted by this program, we aim to continue the spirit of honouring the unwavering spirit of the Filipino youth to serve as inspiration to others”, he said. “It’s wonderful to see this group, who once were on the receiving end, mobilizing themselves to reach out and help deserving students. It’s a testament to how the program empowers the Filipino youth.”
