GMA to SkyCable: Refute Eat Bulaga signal loss complaint
MANILA, Philippines — GMA Network, Incorporated challenged SkyCable Corporation to disprove its complaint on poor cable signal during the airing of noontime show Eat Bulaga, instead of simply dismissing it as "malicious and baseless."
"Instead of merely saying that GMA's complaint is malicious and without basis, SkyCable would do well to refute the specific complaints of GMA's viewers submitted to the NTC, where the case is now pending," the Gozon-led broadcast giant said in a statement on Saturday, August 29.
It pointed that its complaint with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) "is based on the numerous complaints GMA has received from its viewers."
GMA threw the challenge a day after SkyCable dismissed its complaint with the NTC as "a malicious accusation and is without basis.”
On August 25, GMA Network filed a complaint before the NTC against SkyCable due to alleged signal loss during the airing of Eat Bulaga.
The long-running noontime show runs a popular segment featuring the hot on-screen/split screen tandem of #AlDub.
GMA Network Senior Vice President for Engineering Elvis Ancheta and Vice President for Legal Affairs Lynn Delfin had asked NTC to act on the matter for subscribers who are supposedly "being short-changed through the irresponsible acts of their service provider.”
In its complaint, GMA claimed that the signal loss during the airing of Eat Bulaga violates Section 6 of the Revised Rules and Regulations Governing Cable Television Systems in the Philippines.
SkyCable is the pay TV subsidiary of ABS-CBN Corporation. – Rappler.com
