AI season 12: Lazaro Arbos eliminated
MANILA, Philippines - It’s an all-girl American Idol season 12 top 5 after the last guy in the top 6, Lazaro Arbos, was eliminated in the April 11 (April 12 MNL) episode of the show.
During the show, host Ryan Seacrest paired the 6 finalists: Janelle Arthur with Angie Miller, Amber Holcomb with Lazaro Arbos, and Candice Glover with Kree Harrison. He tantalizingly said that one pair received the highest votes, another was safe, and the last received the lowest votes.
He then revealed that Candice and Kree had the highest votes, Janelle and Angie were safe, and that Amber and Lazaro were in danger. But Amber’s fans breathed a sigh of relief when Seacrest announced that it was Lazaro going home that night.

Though Lazaro lasted this long in the competition, Wetpaint.com commented that his last two performances were “dismal.”
AI mentor Jimmy Iovine even said during the show that if he would rank Lazaro among the remaining finalists, he would put him in 10th place. After someone off-camera tells him that there are only 6 finalists left, he said, “Yes, I know.”
The Cuban-born Lazaro, who touched AI viewers and judges with his fight to overcome his stuttering condition, sang “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone.
Unfortunately for him, the judges did not use their save power to keep him in on the show.
"We love you. You've been a treasure to the show. We've enjoyed you but we're not gonna use the save," said Randy Jackson.
The 5 remaining candidates are:
- Candice Glover
- Kree Harrison
- Janelle Arthur
- Angie Miller
- Amber Holcomb
