Sharon Stone, Pinay nanny settle lawsuit
The nanny, Erlinda Elemen, worked for Stone from 2008 to 2011. She claimed the actress repeatedly insulted her on account of her race, and labeled Filipinos "stupid people."
The lawsuit stated that Stone "criticized plaintiff for frequently attending church and, on one occasion, forbade plaintiff from reading the bible in plaintiff's room in defendant's residence."
Elemen was also reportedly forbidden from speaking to Stone's children because the actress "did not want them to talk like her."
In 2011, Stone fired Elemen and accused her of stealing after paying her overtime pay.
"Because abuses in overtime pay are common for household employees it seems ironic that Ms. Stone initially did the right thing and paid Mrs. Elemen overtime wages and then terminated her for accepting those same wages," said Elemen's lawyer, Solomon Green.
In 2012, Stone's camp branded the lawsuit as "absurd," saying the actress' comments did not count as harassment.
Within the past month, another former housekeeper Angelica Castillo sued Stone for "wrongful termination and wrongful retaliation," claiming Stone refused to lighten Castillo's workload after being injured on the job. - Rappler.com
