[WATCH] Rappler Live Jam: Noel Cabangon
MANILA, Philippines – Noel Cabangon is back on Rappler Live Jam!
The award-winning folk-rocker formed the group Buklod in 1987 along with Rene Boncocan and Rom Dongeto. Together, they released 3 albums, which included such timeless hits like “Tatsulok,” “Kanlungan”
Noel has gone on to pursue a solo career, releasing 6 solo albums and performing in venues and stages all over the country.
He recently dropped a jazzy version of Moira dela Torre’s song, “Malaya,” as well as his new song “Habangbuhay,” which features soul duo Leanne & Naara.
Released on May 1, “Habangbuhay” is dedicated to Noel’s friends from Negros. “We’ve had each other’s back for more than 20 years, with music as something that contiues to bind us together,” he shared, saying that he chose to collaborate with Leanne & Naara because he saw the same kind of bond between them.
At the same time, the song is Noel’s tribute to the Filipino “bayanihan” and “walang iwanan” spirit.
“Right now we are facing this dreadful challenge, but we have each other’s backs. We see how Filipinos support each other, even the ones who do not really have much are extending their support to fellow Filipinos,” he said.
