MANILA, Philippines – To say that The Fault in Our Stars has a cult following can be a bit of an understatement.
John Green's fourth solo novel tackles the story of Hazel (Shailene Woodley), a cancer patient who falls in love with a guy named Gus (Ansel Elgort) who's on remission – a state wherein there is absence of activity among cancer cells despite not being totally cured.
The two meet in a cancer support group and find more than friendship and emotional aid. They then find themselves on a race against time as Hazel's cancer gets worse.
Published in 2012, the book nearly had a million copies in print as of 2013 and the response of young-adult readers on the Internet has been nothing short of overwhelming.

Shailene Woodley who plays Hazel, the lead character, fought hard to get the role. She read and was a fan of the book prior to auditioning. She is best known for playing the character of Amy Juergens in The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family), and for her role alongside George Clooney in The Descendants.
Meanwhile, Ansel Elgort who plays Gus, recently took on the character of Tommy Ross in the horror film Carrie (2013).
Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe will be playing the role of Hazel's favorite author – Peter Van Houten.
The film is set to come out in June.
