Deniece Cornejo's second rape case vs Vhong Navarro dismissed
MANILA, Philippines- The Taguig Prosecutor’s Office has dismissed the second rape complaint filed by model Deniece Cornejo against actor-comedian Vhong Navarro.
According to a Pep report, the Taguig Prosecutor’s Office’s resolution dated July 1 said that her testimony was doubtful, referring to the fact that she invited the It’s Showtime host again to her condominium at Forbeswood Heights, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on January 22 after she was allegedly raped on January 17.
Deniece, in her previous complaint, claimed that Vhong raped her on January 22, which left the actor severely injured after the group of Cedric Lee came to her condominium to help her. But Vhong said that he was the victim of blackmail and that Cedric Lee's group had humiliated him and asked him for money in exchange for their silence about the events of the evening. He said that he was forced to say that he raped Deniece.
The first rape complaint was dismissed by the Department of Justice in April.
In the same report, a statement was issued by Vhong’s lawyer Alma Mallonga over the decision.
"The dismissal vindicates Vhong, gives lie to the baseless charges against him, and brings him one step closer to reaching the end of his quest for full justice,” part of her statement said.
The camp of Deniece has yet to comment on the decision.
But despite the dismissal of Deniece's complaint, the battle is not yet over for Vhong's camp. Two other cases, one filed by former beauty queen Roxanne Acosta, and a former stunt woman have yet to be resolved. – Rappler.com
