6 shocking twists in 'The King: Eternal Monarch'
MANILA, Philippines – The King: Eternal Monarch is set to air its season finale on Friday, June 12, which means there's only one episode left for viewers to get closure on an action-packed season that has taken many twists and turns.
The last couple of episodes in particular had many shocking reveals as mysteries that hounded viewers throughout the season finally came to light.
Ahead of the finale, here's a recap of some of the show's most surprising moments:
Kang Shin-jae meets his alternate...in a hospital bed
Imagine Kang Shin-jae's shock when he discovers that his father received a replacement for his comatose son as a bonus for selling the care center to Lee Lim. It's even more heartbreaking for Kang Shin-jae when he realizes his dad only cares about meeting Lee Lim and escaping to the other world.
Lee Lim kills Lee Lim?
Lee Lim decides to go back in time to warn his past self about his failed coup and instruct him to kill the young Lee Gon. It turns out to be the wrong move – his past self ends up slashing him with a sword hidden in his umbrella.
Lee Gon saves himself
A lot of viewers may have seen this coming already, but it is still interesting to see the characters' reactions when they learn that it was Lee Gon all along who saved his younger self from his murderous uncle.
Lee Gon is stuck in time
With only half of the magic flute, Lee Gon is unable to immediately go back to the time he came from. He has to wait in an in-between place for approximately 4 months to travel through 26 years.
Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-eul's love story defies time
While Lee Gon travels through time, he meets 5-year-old Jeong Tae-eul. This meeting changes Jeong Tae-eul's memories and they meet again in 2016. Remembering him clearly, Jeong Tae-eul embraces Lee Gon first when they meet in 2019. The couple rewrite their love story and deepen their relationship.
Jeong Tae-eul teams up with Luna
Jeong Tae-eul will do anything to save Lee Gon – including teaming up with someone who stabbed her. Only time will tell if Luna will help Jeong Tae-eul save her lover, or do something else. With both Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-eul making plans to save their two worlds and each other, it's bound to be an epic ending.
Of course, viewers can only expect more surprises in store as the show approaches its last episode, which airs on Netflix on June 12, 10:30 pm. – Rappler.com
