Manila-Siem Reap flights start April
MANILA, Philippines – Budget carrier Cebu Pacific will launch its direct Manila-Siem Reap flights starting April 19 with a promotional fare of P888.
This is the first direct flight between Philippines and Cambodia, and a result of a recently inked bilateral air agreement between the 2 Asian neighbors.
Siem Reap is a gateway for tourists who visit historic Buddhist temples, such as the Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Bayon—archeological sites that date back to the early 12th century, when the Khmer Rouge .
Cebu Pacific, one of the most aggressive no-frills airlines in Asia, will initially mount services that depart from Manila at 7:50 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The return flights from Siem Reap leaves at 10:30 pm and arrive in Manila at 2:10 am.
The promo fare is available for sale from January 27 to 29 for travel from April 19 to May 31, 2012.
Tourism has transformed Siem Reap, a picturesque province of Cambodia, as one of the largest contributor to the country’s economy and development.
The number of tourists to Siem Reap soared further after the government liberalized its aviation policy and allowed foreign airlines to fly in the visitors. Siem Reap alone is visited by over 2.5 million tourists a year, more than double the tourists that go to Boracay, an idyllic island in central Philippines.
From Siem Reap, adventurous tourists usually proceed to or depart from other exotic Asian destinations, such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos that are easily accessible by air or land.
