MANILA, Philippines - At 9am on a Saturday, the gleaming marble halls of the posh Greenbelt 5 mall in Makati City are usually dark and quiet; remnants of the previous night’s shopping activity swept away. The mall would open two hours later.
But last Saturday, June 29, the opposite was true: at 9am, the Greenbelt complex was awake with the sound of stilettos on the marble floor, the air filled with excited buzz for the day ahead.
They had good reason: it was the first day of "The Great Greenbelt Sale," an annual fashion and shopping extravaganza where Greenbelt’s local and international luxury brands go on sale. Fashion- and art-related events complement the shopping spree, making the activity more enriching.

Greenbelt offered the early shoppers a warm cup of coffee courtesy of Dolce Gusto. HSBC Gold, Platinum and Premier cardholders also enjoyed special privileges, such as more than 80% off some of Greenbelt’s most luxurious brands.
The raffle and the race

Launched last June 29 were two promos that will run with the sale: The Ultimate Greenbelt Raffle and The Great Greenbelt Shopping Race.
In The Ultimate Greenbelt Raffle, for every P1,000 purchase, a shopper gets the chance to win an Audi A4 and a shopping and dining spree worth P50,000.

The Great Greenbelt Shopping Race is an Instagram-based activity that puts fashion, shopping and social media together.
To participate:

2. Follow Greenbelt on Instagram [@ilovegreenbelt]
3. Go to Greenbelt and do the tasks listed here.
While doing each task, take a photo of yourself and post it on Instagram. Tag @ilovegreenbelt and use the hash tag #GreenbeltShoppingRace.

The Great Greenbelt Sale ends on July 31 [as of July 5, 7:45pm].
On July 13, 7pm, shoppers will be serenaded by The Little Singers of Monaco, a world-renowned boys' choir with members ranging from 10 to 18 years old, at The Gallery in Greenbelt 5.
