Ms PH Earth Pagadian City: Mevelyn Villamor
MANILA, Philippines - In line with the Miss Philippines Earth 2013 pageant's water conservation theme, this 24-year-old law student says, "We can conserve water by raising awareness of the benefits of water cooperation, enhancing and sharing related knowledge."
Describe your childhood/growing-up years (8-13 years old):
As a child growing up, I was blessed to have the basics: food, water, shelter and so much more. I grew up with a loving family who supported me in everything I wanted to do. I grew up idolizing my mother.
Most memorable moment:
Memorable moments can be either a very good moment or a very bad moment. I lost my first boyfriend who was a pastor due to diabetes last March 9, 2011. It was a terrible shock to me since I was so attached to him.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
I want to promote water cooperation because it is a foundation for peace and sustainable development. Water is essential to life and human and economic development. However, water resources on the planet are limited. Demands for water are increasing in order to satisfy the needs of the growing world population for food production, energy, industrial, and domestic use.
