Apple to fix iMessage issues in future update
A FIX FOR IMESSAGE. Apple says an upcoming software update will address the woes of a fraction of its users who can't use iMessage. Screen shot from Apple.
MANILA, Philippines – An iOS 7 bug for the lock screen passcode feature may have been fixed, but that only means it's one less bug that needs remedies.
Users of iOS 7 recently noticed an issue with iMessage where they could not reliably use the application to send or receive messages. After reporting the issue to Apple via Twitter and the company's message boards, Apple responded to the concerns.
In a statement sent to the Wall Street Journal, Apple said:
"We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update. In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users."
Apple enthusiast site 9 to 5 Mac suggests that this might be what's in the works for iOS 7.0.3, which is reportedly in testing.
In the meantime, a stopgap measure appears to be disabling iMessage, resetting the network settings, and turning iMessage back on. – Rappler.com
