MANILA, Philippines – A day before leaving the hallowed halls of Malacañang Palace, President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday, June 29, attended to his last pile of paperwork. (READ: The emotional journey of Benigno Aquino III)
Since he assumed the presidency in 2010, Aquino spent most of his working days at his Private Office in the Palace, which has a nice view of the Pasig River.
As the clock strikes 12 noon on Thursday, June 30, Aquino will relinquish the most powerful seat in the land. He will then return to his life as a private citizen. (READ: The Aquino Legacy)
Meanwhile, President-elect Rodrigo Duterte assumes the post and leads the country away from Daang Matuwid territory.
