5.2-magnitude earthquake hits Agusan del Sur
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted Agusan del Sur in Mindanao past 7 am Saturday, July 9, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected after the quake, which was tectonic in origin, hit Agusan del Sur at 7:16 am Saturday.
Intensity 3 was felt in Cagayan De Oro City, while Phivolcs reported of instrumental intensities in Bislig City and Cagayan de Oro City (Intensity 2), and in Kidapawan City (Intensity 1).
An 8 am update on the earthquake showed that Intensity 5 was felt in Butuan City and Talacogon, Agusan Del Sur, while Intensity 4 was felt in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.
Phivolcs also recorded Intensity 2 in Malaybalay City and Valencia, both in Bukidnon, Intensity 1 in Mambajao, Camiguin, and instrumental intensities in Cebu City and Alabel, Sarangani (Intensity 1).
Phivolcs said no damage is expected after the earthquake. – Rappler.com
