5 dead in Pasay City stabbing incident
MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – Five people died from stab wounds when a man attacked them inside a condominium in Pasay City on Tuesay, August 29.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Director Oscar Albayalde said a man killed his girlfriend in the Central Park condominium in Pasay City.
Albayalde said the suspect, identified as Alberto Garan, had a heated argument with his girlfriend, who was a massage attendant. The attacks began on the 16th floor.
"At lahat ng dinaanan pagkatapos mag-away nilang mag-girlfriend ay pinagsasaksak niya (And he stabbed everyone he came across after their argument)," according to Albayalde.
The following were killed in the incident:
- Emelyn Sagun, 30
- Daisery Castillo, 12
- Joel Palacios, 70
- Ligaya Dimapilis, 36
- Letecia Ecsiagan, 50
Four women were also injured and were treated at the Pasay General Hospital:
- Belcris Elorde, 24
- April Joy Sagarino, 20
- Arlyn Dian Cordero
- Margie Morales, 26
Police later shot dead the suspect.
Police later recovered a 14-inch kitchen knife used by the suspect, 3 cellular phones and a sling bag containing IDs in Alberto Garan's name. SOCO personnel also recovered a caliber .38 pistol without a serial number int room 14004, where the stabbing incident started. – Rappler.com
