MANILA, Philippines – 14-year-old Reynaldo "Kulot" de Guzman was buried by his parents on Wednesday morning, September 13, at Barracks Cemetery in Pasig City.
His body was found floating face down in a creek with his head wrapped in plastic and packing tape, and his leg wrapped with a sack. His thin frame bore 30 stab wounds.
The police tried to make an issue of his DNA not matching that of his parents, eliciting strong reactions from them. The Public Attorney's Office also reacted, saying that the DNA test is reliable only if the specimen is safe. Results can be inaccurate if specimen was mishandled.
Amid the controversy surrounding De Guzman's death, the teenager was finally buried on Wednesday, the day after a typhoon whipped parts of Luzon. Below are photos from his burial day. All photos by Eloisa Lopez.
