#WalangPasok: No classes June 12, 15
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday, June 6, said there will be no classes nationwide on June 12, a Tuesday, and June 15, a Friday.
Both dates are regular holidays in celebration of Independence Day and Eid'l Fitr, respectively.
According to Education Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla, the DepEd indicated the June 15 holiday in its Department Order (DO) No. 25, which presented the official calendar for school year (SY) 2018-2019.
President Rodrigo Duterte also later signed Proclamation No. 514 on Wednesday, formally declaring June 15 a regular holiday for Eid'l Fitr.
Because the date for Eid'l Fitr varies according to the Islamic calendar, a presidential proclamation is usually issued to declare a specific date for it as a regular holiday.
Sevilla also clarified that holidays and no-class dates listed through DO No. 25 pertain only to schools.
