MANILA, Philippines – Illegal drugs worth P8.5 million were seized by police in high-end hotel Shangri-La at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on Wednesday, May 22.
Cops from the National Capital Region Police Office said they raided the place after responding to a security call past midnight. They arrested a certain Domingo Uy Jr, whom they identified as a married businessman from Quezon City.
Confiscated in the unit are the following:
- 6 packs of ecstasy worth 6.8 million;
- 22 packs of cocaine worth 1.89 million;
- 103 grams of kush worth P51,500.
Cops also seized 3 bottles of suspected liquid marijuana and cash worth P720,346.
The crackdown comes as law enforcers continue to pursue a clampdown on illegal drugs in high-end subdivisions and establishments amid criticism that the anti-drug campaign of the Duterte administration only focuses on impoverished communities.
Police were preparing to charge Uy with the case of possession of illegal drugs based on the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act or Republic Act No. 9165. – Rappler.com
