Abra town councilor shot dead on first day of work
CRIME SCENE. A barangay councilor is shot dead in PIlar, Abra.
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – A town councilor in Abra was shot dead after he attended the flag ceremony of his first day of service on Monday, July 1.
Pilar Sanggunian Bayan member Amante Doral Sr was aboard a motorcycle driven by his son when he was ambushed by a lone assailant who waited for them in Sitio Sabsabudao, Barangay Poblacion in Pilar.
The councilor was shot in the back. An M-16 bullet exited from his stomach.
The councilor's son, 18-year-old Joker, was injured on the thigh following the attack, but he was still able to bring his father to the police station, while the cops brought Doral to the hospital.
The councilor died while being treated.
The assailant, who had yet to be identified, was able to flee.
Doral, who ran under the Nacionalista Party, was on his second term as SB member. – Rappler.com
