162 arrested as liquor ban takes effect
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - A day after the implementation of the liquor ban by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at least 162 people have already been arrested for violating the said ban, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a press release, PNP Public Information Office Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr revealed the arrests happened in different parts of the country.
These are the places where police have arrested violators of the said ban, so far:
- Navotas City - 6
- Pasig City - 7
- Quezon City - 7
- Region 11 - 132
- Batangas - 7
The arrested individuals were told to undergo a couple of tests, including Alcoholic Breath Test and Medical Examination, among others, to verify alcohol consumption.
