Barangay, SK polls registration begins
MANILA, Philippines – Unregistered voters, or those whose registrations got deactivated, should troop to local election offices starting Monday, July 22, if they want to vote in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said voters have 10 days, starting Monday, to register for the barangay and SK elections slated for October 28.
The Comelec will open its local offices for registration from 8 am to 5 pm every day, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Voters may avail of the following services during the 10-day period, the Comelec said:
- Transfer of registration records;
- Reactivation of registration records; and
- Inclusion of registration records/reinstatement of name in the list of voters

The barangay and SK elections will happen on October 28. The Comelec expects up to 740,000 voters to register for the barangay elections and around two million for the SK elections.
Comelec chair Sixto Brillantes Jr, however, has proposed the postponement of the barangay and SK elections. President Benigno Aquino III, who is hesitant about this move, said he wants a “very good reason” to heed the Comelec recommendation. – Rappler.com
