It's final: Ecleo group can't join party list – SC
MANILA, Philippines – It's final: the group that would have nominated a scion of the Ecleo political dynasty in Dinagat Island is not qualified for the party list.
The Supreme Court (SC) made public on Thursday, August 1, the resolution that denied with finality the motion for reconsideration filed by the Alliance for Reform Towards Effective Management and Sustainable Development Inc (ARMD).
ARMD applied for accreditation with the Commission on Election (Comelec) to participate in the May 2013 party-list elections. The poll body disqualified it, however, on March 5.
It filed a motion for reconsideration with the SC on April 8. The motion was denied with finality on the court en banc on June 4.
The nominees it submitted to the Comelec were the following:
- Gwendolyn Ecleo-Durano, who also ran for representative of Dinagat Islands but lost to Kaka Bag-ao
- Atty Jose V. Aspiras and Atty Mario B. Cerro, the counsel for ARMD
- Jannis Ian Teope, owner of San Jose Dinagat Mining Corp
- Vicente O. Sanchez, general manager of Avatar Construction Company, also based in Dinagat Islands
