Soldier killed in clash with NPA in ComVal
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A soldier was killed in an encounter with communist guerrillas in the town of Mawab in Compostela Valley on Friday morning, September 27.
The military's Eastern Mindanao Command said the government troops were on a security patrol when they were attacked by members of the New People's Army in Sitio Tanawan, Barangay Malinawon.
The firefight lasted for 10 minutes until the rebels withdrew toward an unknown direction.
