MANILA, Philippines – A fire broke out in San Pedro, Laguna, on Tuesday evening, October 22, destroying two establishments.
The fire – ongoing as of posting – is on third alarm.
FO1 Neil Victor Gundran of San Pedro's Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the station received a phone call at 7:01 pm regarding a fire involving Primewood Construction & Marketing Inc, a hardware store in Barangay Nueva and along the National Highway.
"[The fire] is still contained in the vicinity of the primary establishment," Gundran said, although it was suspected to have started in a lumber mill located at the back of the hardware store.
BFP units from Cabuyao, Sta Rosa, and Biñan in Laguna, and from Muntinlupa City also responded to the fire.
Residents within the area said electricity was cut off at around 8:30 pm but was restored after more than an hour. Gundran said the fire had been under control since 10 pm.
