Palace suspends work in gov't offices
MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang announced the suspension of work in government offices where classes have been suspended on Friday, September 19, due to heavy rainfall caused by typhoon Mario.
Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr made the announcement before 8 am on Friday.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said the work suspension in government offices covers Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Quezon including Polillo Island, Mindoro provinces, Camarines Norte, and Marinduque.
Ochoa said the discretion to suspend work in the private sector depends on the employers, but urged the latter to consider the situation.
"For the private sector, the discretion to suspend work lies with individual companies and employers. We urge employers to consider the circumstances of their employees brought about by Tropical Storm Mario," he said.
At 7:07 am on Friday, the Supreme Court announced the suspension of work in the judiciary in Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan following the red rainfall alert made by PAGASA on the areas.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has also announced the suspension of the implementation of the number coding scheme. – Rappler.com
