MANILA, Philippines – The anti-graft court Sandiganbayan has allowed detained Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr to get medical treatment, including physical therapy sessions, at the Philippine National Police General Hospital.
"After deliberating on the matter, the Court resolves to grant the motion for humanitarian considerations," the Sandiganbayan's First Division said in its resolution released to the media on Thursday, June 4.
The court authorized Revilla to get treatment at the PNP hospital 3 times a week for a total of 6 sessions, but not more than an hour per session.
In his motion, Revilla sought court permission to undergo "further medical examination and treatment of his back and feet, including physical therapy."
This is upon the recommendation of his physician, based on medical tests conducted on him.
Revilla is detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, along with Senator Jinggoy Estrada, over plunder and graft charges in connection with the pork barrel scam.
Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, who is facing the same charges, is detained at the PNP hospital. Revilla's unauthorized February 14 visit to Enrile, who was celebrating his 91st birthday in his hospital room at the time, led to the sacking of PNP officials. – Rappler.com
