Free Pasig River ferry rides on Independence Day

MANILA, Philippines – For those who haven't tried the Pasig River Ferry, here's some good news.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is offering free rides to the public on Friday, June 12, in commemoration of the 117th Philippine Independence Day.
The public can ride the Pasig River Ferry for free from 6:30 am until 5:30 pm.
Passengers can avail of the free rides from the 11 stations of the ferry service:
- Pasig City: Pinagbuhatan and San Joaquin
- Makati City: Guadalupe and Valenzuela
- Mandaluyong City: Hulo
- Manila: PUP Sta Mesa, Sta Ana, Lambingan, Escolta, Lawton, Plaza Mexico
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the agency is offering free rides to promote the service as an alternative mode of transportation to the traffic-clogged streets of Metro Manila.
The Pasig River Ferry System was shut down in 2011 due to losses, but revived in April 2014 by the MMDA, the transportation department, and the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission. – Rappler.com
