MANILA, Philippines -- The Singsons dominated the May 13 elections in Ilocos Sur even after political kingpin and incumbent governor Luis "Chavit" Singson took a respite from politics.

Chavit's son incumbent representative Ryan Luis Singson, who ran under Nationalista Party (NP), is set to replace his father. Ryan won handily against his sole rival Liberal Party (LP) bet Tagudin Mayor Roque Verzosa Jr,

Ryan's brother and former Ilocos Sur Rep Ronald Singson, who served a term for drug possession in Hong Kong two years ago, is also set to return as 1st district representative. He won over LP's Bertrand Baterina.

Other Chavit relatives who won are brother Jeremias Singson, who was reelected as provincial board member, and sister Germalina Goulart who won unopposed as Caoayan Mayor, and niece Eva Marie Medina was also the sole mayoral bet in Vigan City.

Eva's son, Carlo, and Jeremias's son, John Patrick, also won as Vigan city councilors.

The winning streak also rubbed off on the Singsons in the 2nd district where most of them ran under the LP.

Chavit's cousin Eric Singson won a landslide victory over Henry Capela in the congressional race.

Eric's son, Ericson, ran unopposed in the Candon City mayoral race, while brother Alphonse is set to return as vice mayor. Eric’s niece Kristelle also succeeded in her reelection bid as city councilor.

Eric's nephew Zuriel Zaragosa and nephew Fayinna remain as mayor and vice-mayor of Narvacan town, respectively.
