MANILA, Philippines – Thousands of people trooped to offices of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) all over the country on Saturday, September 29, the last day of voters’ registration.
Local Comelec offices nationwide opened at 8 am and will close by 5 pm. The Comelec had said that there would be no extension for voters' registration.
Some offices had long queues before they opened on Saturday morning, and even after 5 pm. (READ: LIST: Satellite voters' registration sites in Metro Manila open on September 29)
In media interviews, Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez appealed to last-day registrants to be patient, especially as Comelec offices could only accommodate a limited number of people on the final day.
Meanwhile, the Comelec set the special registration of voters in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, from October 1 to 15.
Here are some photos of the last day of registration.
