
Cebu gubernatorial candidate Boyet Cortes dies

MANILA, Philippines – Roliveth "Boyet" Cortes, a candidate for governor of Cebu in the 2019 midterm elections, died on Sunday, February 3.
Cortes' brother, Glenn, announced his death in a Facebook post on Sunday.
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Boyet Cortes, known to most of you as Klasmit Govboyet," said Glenn.
"There are no words at this time to describe our grief, but we are comforted that at the time of his death, he was doing what he loved to do – to serve the people. Until the end, he was surrounded by his supporters."
According to Cebu Daily News, Cortes reportedly died of a heart attack.
Cortes, who had been a television and radio host, was running as an independent candidate. He also ran for Cebu governor in the 2013 and 2016 elections, but lost. – Rappler.com
