Typhoon Ferdie leaves PH Area of Responsibility

MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Ferdie (Meranti) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, September 14.
In its bulletin issued 2 pm on Wednesday, state weather bureau PAGASA said Ferdie was already 315 kilometers northwest of Basco, Batanes, moving northwest at 20 kilometers per hour (km/h).
Though Ferdie is already out of PAR, signal number 1 remains raised in Batanes. Moderate to heavy rain is still expected within the typhoon's 600-km diameter.
Ferdie had made landfall in Itbayat, Batanes at 12:15 am on Wednesday. The province was placed under signal number 4 at the height of the typhoon.
Communication lines in Batanes were cut off as Ferdie brought heavy rain and strong winds.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring Typhoon Gener (Malakas).
Gener is moving northwest – away from the Philippines – but it could enhance the southwest monsoon. – Rappler.com
