9 areas under signal no. 1 due to Tropical Depression Odette
MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression Odette slightly intensified as it continued moving over the West Philippine Sea early Thursday morning, October 12.
In a bulletin issued past 8 am on Thursday, state weather bureau PAGASA said Odette is already 655 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, still moving west northwest at a fast 26 kilometers per hour (km/h).
The tropical depression now has maximum winds of 55 km/h and gustiness of up to 65 km/h.
Signal number 1 is raised in the following areas:
- Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands
- Mountain Province
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
PAGASA warned that Odette could intensify into a tropical storm before making landfall in the Cagayan-Isabela area early Friday morning, October 13. (READ: FAST FACTS: Tropical cyclones, rainfall advisories)
Sea travel remains risky over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon.
Odette is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Saturday, October 14.
