Tropical Storm Paolo now in PAR, but won't hit land

MANILA, Philippines – A tropical storm with the international name Lan entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 11 am on Monday, October 16. It has been given the local name Paolo.
PAGASA confirmed the tropical storm's entry in a phone call with Rappler. (READ: EXPLAINER: How tropical cyclones form)
Paolo is located east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, but it is too far to directly affect the country.
The tropical storm is moving west northwest at a slow 11 kilometers per hour (km/h), with maximum winds of 65 km/h and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.
