Gorio now tropical storm
MANILA, Philippines - As of 11:00 pm, June 28, Tropical Depression Gorio has now developed into a Tropical Storm and was estimated to be 250 kilometers (km) east of Maasin, Southern Leyte.
According to the state weather bureau PAGASA, Tropical Storm Gorio is expected to be in the vicinity of Catarman, Northern Samar by Saturday evening, June 29.
Signal no. 1 has been put up in Quezon, Polillo Island, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Marinduque, Romblon, as well as Aklan, Capiz and Northeastern Iloilo.
Gorio currently has speeds of 65 kph near the center and is expected be in the vicinity of Cabanatuan City and at 390 km northwest of Dagupan City on Sunday and Monday evenings, respectively.
Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas in these locations are warned to be careful against possible flashfloods and landslides.
PAGASA also advised people living in coastal areas to be alert against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical storm. - Rappler.com
