#MarioPH: Areas under state of calamity

MANILA, Philippines – Several areas have been placed under a state of calamity since Friday, September 19, after they experiencied heavy rains, floods, and other emergencies due to Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong) and the southwest monsoon.
A declaration of state of calamity forces a 60-day price freeze on basic goods. It also allows the appropriation of calamity funds, among other emergency acts. The declaration needs the approval of the council in the case of cities and municipalilites, or of the board in the case of provinces.
The following areas have been placed under a state of calamity:
- Marikina City
- Ilocos Norte
- Narvacan, Ilocos Sur
- Dagupan, Pangasinan
- Cainta, Rizal
- Cebu City (state of calamity declared on Thursday)
