Rainy Friday for PH as Ompong heads north

MANILA, Philippines – State weather service PAGASA reports that the eye of Typhoon Ompong (International name Vongfong) was located approximately 788 km east of Itbayat, Batanes.
Ompong carries with it maximum winds of 185 km/h and gustiness of up to 220 km/h, and is forecast to move north at a rate of 13 km/h.
An intertropical convergence zone is also affecting Visayas and Mindanao. As a result, Visayas, the Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and province of Palawan will experience cloudy skies, along with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies and light to moderate rain.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy, and will have isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Seafarers should take note of moderate to rough coastal waters stemming from strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest over Northern and Central Luzon, as well as coming from the southwest over the rest of the country.
