Lufthansa on 29 October 2015 lifted its full-year earnings forecast as it bounced back from a September pilots strike. Its third-quarter earnings were helped by the low cost of aviation fuel and an unexpected surge in travel during the Northern Hemisphere's summer. They rose 51 per cent from the same quarter a year ago to 1.2 billion euros (1.3 billion dollars). Chief executive Carsten Spohr said earnings for the year would be in the range of 1.75 billion to 1.95 billion euros, provided there is no fresh strike. Previously, he had said earnings would be at least 1.5 billion euros. EPA/FEDERICO GAMBARINI
