Kidnapped foreigners in the Philippines appear in video

Oct 13, 2015 - 7:12 PM

The 3 foreigners – Canadian and Norwegian nationals – who were kidnapped from a resort in Mindanao appear in a video posted online asking that assaults against the Islamic militant captors be stopped

This undated image grab taken on October 13, 2015 from a video uploaded on YouTube shows gunmen standing behind three foreign men (not pictured) and a Filipina (not pictured) who were kidnapped last month in the southern Philippines. Gunmen raided a luxury marina near the major southern city of Davao on September 21, abducting the Norwegian owner of the resort, two Canadian tourists and one of their girlfriends. No group immediately claimed responsibility but the video uploaded on YouTube on October 13 appeared to confirm it was the Abu Sayyaf, which has a long history of kidnappings-for-ransom in the southern Philippines. In the video, the three foreigners appealed for Philippine authorities to halt military assaults against the gunmen.
