Lufthansa delays Brussels Airlines acquisition decision after attacks

Apr 28, 2016 - 5:45 PM

epa05279529 An Airbus A-320 plane (front) and an Airbus A-330 plane (back) of Brussels airlines on the runway at Brussels Airport in Brussels, Belgium, 27 April 2016. When presenting the results of the Lufthansa on March 17, its head of finance, Simone Menne, had indicated that a decision on the purchase or not Brussels Airlines (SN) would be taken in the first half. And to clarify later that it would be on 27 April. Meanwhile, there were the attacks of March 22, which included hit SN and it appears possible that the decision be postponed. But maybe not only for matters of uncertainty about the future of the Belgian company. We know that Lufthansa owns 45 per cent stake in SN Airholding, parent company of Brussels Airlines. She has a right of recovery of all the shares which runs until 2018. The sum to pay in this case falls within an articulated calculation around a complex formula sprung from the head who was Michel Meyfroidt CFO and co-CEO (with Bernard Gustin) SN. It takes into account many parameters, including the results of the Belgian company during the past three years. EPA/LAURENT DUBRULE
