Pope Francis invites PH officials to nunciature
MANILA, Philippines - Before his departure on Monday, January 19, Pope Francis invited senior government officials to the nunciature in Manila to thank them for organizing his 5-day visit to the Philippines and ensuring his security here.
Among those invited to the Apostolic Nunciature on Monday morning, where Francis stayed during his visit, were Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr, Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario, Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson, Health Secretary Janette Garin, Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, and Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma.
Also invited were Armed Forces chief of staff Gregorio Catapang Jr and acting National Police chief Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina.
Departure ceremonies for the Pope are expected to begin at 9:45 am at Villamor Airbase in Pasay City, where President Benigno Aquino III himself will send him off. – Rappler.com
