One-on-One: Ronnie Magsanoc on making NCAA history
MANILA, Philippines - San Beda Red Lions head coach Ronnie Magsanoc did what he had to do.
He steered the team to its 17th title, making San Beda the winningest team in the NCAA, the oldest college league in the country. He led the Lions to a 3-peat, giving the team its third straight title, its sixth in seven years.
All this in his rookie year as San Beda's coach, his first time coaching a college team.
In this episode of One on One, Magsanoc, a former San Beda high school player himself, talks about the journey to get to the top, his experience coaching in the NCAA, the adjustments they needed to make to take down Letran in the finals, and the lessons he learned from the season.
"Yes, we struggled, but the big fact is we made it. And for the doubters to say their opinions, we cannot do anything about that. The mission is simple: get to the final four, get to the finals, and defend the crown. No matter how you do it, for as long as you do it, the mission will be accomplished," he said.
