IN PHOTOS: Calabarzon defeats NCR to win Palaro hoops title
MANILA, Philippines - It had been three long years since the Calabarzon region had claimed the coveted Palarong Pambansa secondary boys hoops title. Three years of heartbreak, rebuilding and growing pains.
The setbacks that they had to overcome only served to make their victory on Saturday, May 10 that much more satisfying. The hometown kids avenged their defeat to the National Capital Region in last year's semifinals to win the championship, earning them bragging rights as the best high school squad in the nation.

Though they nearly blew a 22-point lead down the stretch, Calabarzon was able to hang on by hitting key free throws and keeping up the intensity on the defensive side.
