Steph Curry coming to Philippines for Under Armour
MANILA, Philippines – Reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Steph Curry is coming to the Philippines on September 5 as part of his Asian tour that will also bring him to Japan and China.
“Together with Under Armour, I’m looking forward to sharing my energy and commitment to basketball with the fans and basketball players in Asia who will leave their mark on the game,” Curry said in the press statement on Wednesday, August 12.
The tour will include stops in Tokyo in Japan and Beijing, Chongqing, and Shanghai in China.
Explaining why the 3 countries have been chosen for the tour, Curry said: “China and the Philippines have a rich cultural connection to basketball and I’ve heard the game is becoming more popular in Japan by the day."
His promise to fans? "This will be an unforgettable experience and we have some special things planned for some of the best basketball fans in the world."
The press statement said that the tour – labeled “The UA Roadshow featuring Stephen Curry” – plans to connect the Golden State Warriors star with the people and culture of the countries he’s visiting “through up and close personal interactions.”
Curry, 27, averaged 23.8 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds a game last NBA season, leading the Warriors to a 67-15 record in the regular season – best in the league – and their first NBA title in 40 years in the playoffs.
In the NBA Finals against the LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Curry put up 26 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds a game.
The NBA will have Danny Green and Kenneth Faried coming to town at the end of August for NBA 3X PH. – Rappler.com
