Lakers to acquire center Roy Hibbert - report
MANILA, Philippines - Roy Hibbert will be packing his things in Indiana and heading to Hollywood.
The Pacers are reportedly finalizing terms on a deal that will send the 7-foot-2 center to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Yahoo Sports reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Pacers will receive a future second-round draft pick in exchange, while absolving itself of the 28-year-old’s $15.5 million contract for the coming 2015-16 season.
The lone portion of the deal left to solve, Yahoo reports, is how to maneuver around the $2.3 million trade kicker, which would leave Los Angeles with under $5 million to reinforce its roster after a dismal 21-61 season in 2014-15.
The Lakers had initially tried to snag big men LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Monroe before Aldridge came to an agreement with the San Antonio Spurs and Monroe made a deal for a max contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
In Hibbert, the Lakers get a two-time NBA All Star who has averaged 11.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in 7 seasons in Indianapolis.
