Defense leads Alaska past Meralco in critical Game 3 win

MANILA, Philippines – The Alaska Aces leaned on solid defense and a stellar performance by their import Rob Dozier to defeat the Meralco Bolts, 92-72, in Game 3 of their best-of-5 semifinal series on Friday, April 29, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
After trailing the Bolts 20-15 entering the second period and being tied at the half, the Aces’ defense took over the rest of the way and limited the Bolts to 35% shooting overall in addition to 21 turnovers that led to 26 points.
Dozier had 25 points and 14 rebounds while Calvin Abueva registered 23 points and 12 boards as Alaska moved to 2-1 in the series. Chris Banchero also played good with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
Meralco was led by the 16 points and 12 rebounds of import Arinze Onuaku. Jimmy Alapag, Reynel Hugnatan, and Cliff Hodge each chipped in 12 points. – Rappler.com
