IN PHOTOS: Moralde, Sabalde make weight in GenSan
GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines - Both John Vincent Moralde and Anthony Sabalde made the 126-pound weight limit without incident for their 10-round featherweight fight on Saturday, February 13 at Gaisano Mall in General Santos City.
The 21-year-old Moralde (14-0, 7 knockouts) of Davao City says he wants to offer the local fans a more fan-friendly performance after a lukewarm reception to his decision win over Jerry Castroverde in that same building in September.
The left-handed Sabalde (10-4, 5 KOs) of Cebu City hasn't been stopped since 2011 and is coming off two consecutive victories since November.
The Moralde-Sabalde fight will headline Sanman Promotions' Brawl at the Mall 2, . Entrance is free, with 9 amateur bouts to begin at 2 pm and the 7-fight pro card beginning at 4 pm.
In the co-featured bout, Romero Duno (8-0, 7 KOs) and Jason Egera (21-16, 10 KOs) both weighed 128 pounds. Duno, a resident of Tagum City, Davao, is fighting in his first scheduled 10-rounder, having never fought past the fifth round.
Egera, of Siaton, Negros Occidental, is a veteran of several 10 and 12-round bouts, but has lost his last 8 fights (4 by knockout) dating back to 2013.
Despite the losses, Egera brings experience to the ring, having faced former champion Marvin Sonsona, as well as contenders Michael Farenas, Jerwin Ancajas and Jundy Maraon.
Also fighting will be GenSan native Reymart Gaballo (11-0, 9 knockouts), a two-year veteran who is looking to hone is raw skills following a brief 20-fight amateur career. He'll face Bryan Samson (5-5, 3 KOs) in an 8-round bout.
Both Gaballo and Samson weighed 118 pounds at the weigh-in. – Rappler.com
