MANILA, Philippines – Filipino fighter Roy Doliguez bowed down to Japanese stalwart Asuka “Riku Shibuya” Mikami on the undercard of ONE Championship’s “Dynasty of Champions” card on Saturday, January 23 at the Changsha SWC Stadium in Changsha, China.
Doliguez, a 34-year-old native of Malungon, Sarangani who captured the WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight belt in September 2002, failed to establish his superior boxing background against Mikami as his opponent easily cruised to a unanimous decision victory.

Using the same playbook when he fought Pinoy competitor Eugene Toquero this past October, Mikami negated Doliguez’s southpaw stance and leverage in the stand-up exchanges as he converted 4 takedowns with ease.
The 30-year-old combatant from Tokyo, Japan did not have difficulties defending a triangle choke while pounding away with sharp forearm blows from the close guard that opened a small gash on Doliguez’s nose bridge.
As Doliguez looked for toe-to-toe trades in the second frame, Mikami smoothly dragged Doliguez to the mat and unceasingly mauled his Filipino foe with hammerfists.
Doliguez sensed the urgency in the third and final canto by swinging left and right punches, but Mikami scooped him back to the ground to no avail.
Mikami is now riding high on a two-fight winning streak and improves his prizefighting record to 13-3-2.
On the other hand, Doliguez loses his second straight outing inside the ONE Championship cage and downgrades to a 6-3 professional standing.
